The right to education is codified in various international agreements and conventions, including
- Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948):
- Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989):
- Sustainable Development Goals (2015):
The same is ensured in the constitution of Islamic republic of Pakistan under Article 25 A:
“Right to education. —The State shall provide free and compulsory education to all children of the age of five to sixteen years in such manner as may be determined by law.”
However, for the particularly less privileged communities we serve, the bridge between these assurances and daily reality is often broken. Shaffaf Ministries International is dedicated to rebuilding that bridge. Our educational programs are designed to fill this critical void in our communities.
Program Beneficiaries
This educational program is focused on Brick kiln workers who remain trapped in a cycle of poverty and illiteracy. The indentured labor in the brick kilns compels the parents to bring even the very young kids to work with them to reduce the heavy burden of inherited debt. The whole family of 7~ 8 people works for less than a 1USD a day.
Mobile Schooling Initiative
This initiative is purely focused on providing educational opportunities to working children at the Brick Kilns and under-resourced minority communities in and around Faisalabad district in the Punjab province of Pakistan.
